MATERIALIZING
Seeing phase started with the selection from one of the university 60x60 cm plaza tiles.
Tile Photograph
The selected tile was first represented through a photographic black & white tile collage.
Tile Rubbings
Then came the tile rubbings, where the tile was rubbed with different medias and papers resulting into 2 rubbings: black&white and colored one.
Jig Drawings
An instrument was created to translate the texture of the tile into accurate line drawings.
The work progresses to materializing the selected tile into a Topographic Mass.
Skeleton
Using the lines from the registration line drawing to construct the skeleton . It is made out of chipboard stratified in three directions, measured, and fixed.
Skeleton filling
The skeleton is then filled using chipboard from both sides creating front and back surfaces to be used in the next stage.
Jig Construction
Using chipboard, a jig was constructed to create the mold for plaster on both sides of the skeleton.
Plaster Pouring
The skeleton was then waxed and prepared for plaster pouring. Ending up with the plaster molds on the right page.
With the usage of bass wood sticks, a 3-dimensional structure was created to be integrated with the void in the plaster along with the part selected from the Arches paper.
